Portmoak Final Update

The weather forecast for our last flying day at Portmoak promised reasonable strength winds from the north and no rain until the afternoon. The weather did not disappoint, with 15 to 20 knot wind from the northwest and clear skies, gliders were rigged early and on line before 08.30am. Chris Huck, Robin Birch along with Emil Benson and Simon Lucas in the PW6 all enjoyed flights in excess of 3 hours making use of Ridge, Thermal and Wave lift before the showers started to develop.
Emil wanted to take some pictures so the PW6 was launched again after a short break loaded with cameras and after some time below 1200ft on the ridge took a 8knt average thermal to 4500ft and spent an hour flying around the snow showers, with the rest of the group de rigging before the showers. Today nearly made up for the three days of showers during the week.
