Saturday 15th Oct. - Summer Again
The south easterly wind (5 to 10kts) had brought in 8/8 Stato Cumulus at about 3000 feet, which burned off to produce a soarable afternoon with about 2 to 3 octas of Cu and thermals to about 2500 above site. Another great training day which produced 2 more "first" solos. Martin and Martin had both been on a holiday course earlier in the year, one Martin converting from power and one re-soloing after gliding in the sixties and an earlier holiday course at Nympsfield. Congratulations both.
The pm soaring conditions brought out a number of private owners who went off to play with the thermals locally. (not sure what Doug did?!) Many many thanks to all the team and other helpers, couldn't fault the day from a launch operation point of view. Even so, the day was brought to a close by night-time before everyone had flown. Floodlit gliding anyone?
