Sunday 26th Royal Intervention

The morning started very grey, but the clag quickly burnt off and it soon got very hot. The airfield felt a bit like Aberdeen aiport with the number of helicopter movements we had, but it was nice to see them and they caused no disruption, Which is more than can be said for Prince Charles' flight into Kemble that closed us down for 40 minutes in the middle of the afternoon. Naturally we sang the national athem as he passed overhead. Otherwise it was a pleasant day in the sunshine - not great cross country weather but good vis. I got to fly visitor Jean who was working her way through a bucket list - seeing the the Aurora Borealis was next after gliding. UWE Matt got lots of practice and 17 year old Nick joined on the spot as a junior member and showed us the 25 hours he's clocked up in the ATC hadn't been wasted.
