Saturday 19th March

Blue skies and a chill in the air brought out the single seaters once again. All was ready by 10:30 but a Class D airspace around Kemble (10:45 to 11:15) kept us sat on the ground for 45 minutes. First to launch at 11:15 was the DG500, followed by a string of solo gliders. Alex M did 5 hours in the Club Astir, but logger stopped recording mid-flight (again). Felix went for 2 hours in the Ka8 but ran out of lift and landed 6 minutes short. Sorry guys. Thermals were up to 6 knots in places (measured on K13 vario) and topped out at about 2800 above site. Another Class D restriction meant we had to stop before 17:45 but the last lauch of the day broke the cable at 100 feet so royalty was safer by 20 minutes! Thanks to Tom for tidying up the broken cable and putting the winch away finally at dusk. Oh... And Doug landed at Little Riz. Hope you made it home Doug?
