Saturday the 27th of November
Saturday started cold, misty and with the occasional snow shower but a determined band of members and instructors set up the airfield.
Today was another UWE induction day and 15 eager (and some slightly under dressed students) after being briefed on safety and the joys of gliding braved the wintry conditions. Low cloud meant some early releases but reduced sink over the valley gave the students a great experience and when the cloud parted there were a good number of launches in excess of 2000'.
All students got into the air thanks to Mike Weston, Paul Gentil and Brian Birlison, the ground crew of Kevin "K13" Russell, Eugene Lambert, Paul Lazenby and several other brave members. Tony Chapman did a great job in manning the simulator, all in all a very successful and enjoyable day! Thanks to all those involved.
There were also a good number of Blokarters using the airfield today
It would appear that we have generated a lot of new members from UWE this time and I ask that the club members help and encourage the membership of the UWE students, my thanks in advance.
