Two junior solos!
First launch 1020 into darkening skies. 16year old Sam Lazenby did some spins and a CB with Brian while the Barry and the ODC and Andy Kingdon with Geoff Cumner also kept the winch driver busy. Finally - after two years of waiting - Sam was sent off on his own for his first solo, and followed with another to prove it was not a fluke.
Brian had just started a similar routine with 16year old birthday boy Tom Wilkinson, who previously had done a couple of week courses and booked a ODC to see what we could do on the big day itself, when the skies darkened and the rain started, so we all went for a cuppa to wait it out. After about an hour the skies started to turn better looking, so we started again, and once again we were able to watch Tom sent off on his first and second solos, and quite tricky for him in the stiffening crosswind too.
So a brace of 16year old solos on the same day is quite an endorsement for our Junior excellence centre. Congratulations to both Tom and Sam on some fine solos on a relatively tricky day.
